Long Island City CSA

(Long Island City, New York)

We will build a greater sense of community through farm trips, potlucks, and the development of a CSA core group, all of which will connect neighbors with each other as well as to the farmers who grow their food. The CSA core group will cultivate and support community leaders to run the CSA. By means of cooking demonstrations, recipes, and nutrition education we will empower the community with knowledge of how to prepare fresh produce and, in turn, promote healthier eating practices which will combat nutrition related illnesses. Furthermore, the Long Island City CSA contributes to a sustainable food system by supporting a local farmer who uses eco-friendly growing practices which are safer for farm workers, the environment, and people eating the food.
