Michigan City Mainstreet Association's Farmer's Market

Gorgeous hanging baskets of brightly colored flowers. Pots of aromatic herbs for your kitchen. Mouth watering fresh home-grown fruits and vegetables. Honey and butters you cannot find in any store. Special treats for your pets. Fountains, birdbaths, dried flower arrangements, and other gifts.

You will find all this and so much more at the Mainstreet Association's Farmer's Market in Michigan City, Indiana, on the southern shores of Lake Michigan. The Farmers Market in in the geographical district known as the Uptown Arts District that features blocks of shopping, salons, services and art.

The Mainstreet Association sponsors the Farmers Market every Saturday from May through October on the corner of 8th and Washington Streets in Michigan City. Open from 8am until Noon(CDT), the Farmers Market (just one block east of Lighthouse Place Premium Outlet Center) features locally grown fruits and vegetables in season as well as craft items, flowers, pastries and herbs. Bake sales, wine tastings, and other special events will take place at the Farmers Market this season. The Mainstreet Association's Farmers Market is growing...and you'll find wineries, Amish bakery goods and cheeses, seedlings and plants, shrubs, and even hand-made cigars in the dozens of booths every Saturday. We open the beginning of May and feature a local shopping experience down the road from the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets and in the Uptown Arts District...Look for the Mainstreet Association's booth for info on our amazing community!

Its a very local market and I have known the farmers for years. They offer a wide variety of products from bread to cherries to corn. Its small enough to be manageable and large enough to have everything you could want from a farmers market.

My father supported the market and his many friends who sold their produce and goods at the market.

I go to the Michigan City Farmers' Market most weeks and absolutely love it. It is small, but I always walk away with a ton of stuff. There is a fab gourmet stand, several good produce people and always some flowers and baked goods.... [more]
