As part of Michigan State University and the C.S. Mott Sustainable Food System team I serve Michigan Organic Vegetable and Crop producers to obtain technical infromaiton and resources to improve their production system, connect to potential markets, faciliate with organic certification and connect researchers to areas of research needed by organic producers. To serve these growers with information, resources and guidance I organize workshops, sessions, and technical resources to address issues posed by the vegetable and crop organic farmers. Key areas of focus include; soil building, benefical insects, cover crops, sourcing and highlighting the need of organic grain for animal producers, and certification and the process.

Soil Building/Organic Marketing workshop that will be held at Morgan Compost INC in Sears, Michigan (just west of Clare) on Aug 23, 2006 from 9:00-4:00. The day is intended for organic/biological vegetable, grain and animal producers from throughout Michigan. The purpose of the session to learn and share how compost and organic amendments such as cover crop can build their soils. Also a market floor show will offer information on potential markets for organic producers; especially, with the expanding demand for grain, meat and dairy products.
