Missouri Northern Pecan Growers was formed by five Vernon County, Missouri growers. They built a pecan processing facility exclusivly for pesticide-free native Northern pecans. Biologist believe this is because Northern pecans contain more heart-healthy, mono-unsaturated oil produced by the Midwest's cooler climate and shorter growing season. Like many heirloom varieties of produce, Northern pecans are more flavorful.
