45 days. [Pre-1890 Virginia heirloom from the Alford family in Morrison, TN.] Any mustard lover would love this variety because of its unequaled flavor and attractive color. The medium sized leaves are very dark green with a dark brownish-bronze tinge on the outer edges. The fresh uncooked leaves are only mildly hot and have a sweet quality. When cooked, the leaves turn a darker green. Sow in the spring, or in the fall for winter greens. Seeds are small, about half the size of other mustards. Self-sows readily.
Garden Medicinals offers over 220 varieties of medicinal and culinary herb seeds, roots, and select heirloom vegetable and ethnic flower seed. All seeds are non-gmo, open-pollinated and untreated. Most seeds are naturally grown and a few are certified organic. Our vegetable seeds do especially well in hot, humid climates where vegetable production can be difficult. Our herb selection also includes dormant root stock of ginger, ginseng, goldenseal, black cohosh, false unicorn, and wild yam.
