(Lycoris squamigera)
While this flower goes by many "Lily" names (Surprise Lily, Magic Lily, Resurrection
Lily, Naked Lady, Lazarus Lily,and Naked Lily just to name a few), it botanical name is:
Lycoris squamigera. It is actually akin to the Amaryllis.
It is hardy to at least zone 5. It grows 3-4 feet and likes full sun to partial shade.
In spring these plants grow a large quantity of pale green foliage. Then they seem
to completely die. When it looks as tho the entire plant has died, a single stalk will
emerge. On that stalk will grow five to seven (pink or magenta) trumpet shaped blossoms.
