A compact, non-trailing nasturtium that is well known for its semi-double to double, upward facing blooms in clear bright colors. Well known in the restaurant trade as an attractive garnish and edible flower.
Mixture consists of gold, peach, red rose and salmon. The plants attract aphids away from susceptible fruits and vegetables in the garden. They also repel whiteflies and squash bugs when used as a repellent spray.
Nasturtiums do best in a sunny, well-drained location. Cultivate soil well before planting seed in spring after danger of frost is over. Cover seed with about one inch of soil and firm well. Thin plants to about one foot apart. If soil is poor and hard, spade deeply and add several inches of finished compost to the soil surface.
The entire nasturtium plant-both flowers and young tender leaves- has a spicy, yet delicately pungent flavor similar to cress. It, like lettuce, is fine for salads and sandwiches.
Germination: Cover seed completely; 65-70F; 2-6 days.
