Native American style drum made from a dried bushel gourd, brain-tanned deer hide, deer antlers as beater and antlers for "handles".
The gourds are grown (organic) and dried here at the farm. The cover for the drum was made using the Native American craft of brain-tanning which is actually using the brain from the animal to tan it's own hide. The process is lengthy and requires several steps. Alan is the one who does this type of work...he is a taxidermist and also a responsible hunter.
Animals are never taken out of season and only to be eaten never just for "sport". We believe as the Native Americans the animals are here for a purpose and to respect them. We try to use every part of the animal we can so it will not be "wasted". They are taken from our farm and processed here.
