NCAT - National Center for Appropriate Technology, is a national nonprofit whose mission is to help people by championing small-scale, local and sustainable solutions to reduce poverty, promote healthy communities and protect natural resources.
We are dedicated to promoting small farms, supporting farmers markets and other producer-only direct marketing venues, partnering with other organizations, universities, nonprofits, and the agricultural communities where farmers live and consumers eat. NCAT is committed to working on a regional level in support of a sustainable local food system in the South, paritcularly as communities rebuild after the storms of 2005.
Our flagship project is ATTRA - the national sustainable agriculture information service. ATTRA has an extensive web site of information, educational resources, publications and links in both English and Spanish. ATTRA offers a toll free hotline to any US farmer and rancher for ordering publications and seeking help to farming and ranching questions in both English and Spanish.
