Oakland Green is a ninth generation family farm. We have been operating as a small cattle farm as well as a Bed and Breakfast for more than 20 years and are now offering our top quality Angus beef direct to consumer for purchase by the side or by the individual cut.
Our cattle are all farm bred and raised from strong stock. We firmly believe that healthy, sustainable farming practices make for strong animals and that healthy animals make healthy meat. We use antibiotics only when absolutely necessary. In the past five years we have never administered antibiotics except in the first week or two of life - and even then usually only two or three calves per year even need it. We never use growth hormones or steroids. Our calves grow up strong and healthy, needing only open access to pasture and clean water.
We finish our animals on grain for approximately 75 days - we find that it makes a better flavor meat without packing on unnecessary fat that can adversely affect our consumers. The grain we use is grown in neighboring fields and soy protein only is used in the mixture. When it comes time to process, we use a small, local processor to ensure quality and care in packaging the meat that has been carefully raised.
