Blood orange season is just beginning, so they are not as blushed inside as they will be later in the season. They have a little more of a berry tartness at this point in the season, but tasty none the less.
The blood oranges are one of the world's most flavorful oranges that are loaded in antioxidants. They have a zippy, zingy taste that will explode in your mouth. At Trethowan Organics, we grow nothing but the finest certified organic blood oranges in Southern California. The blood orange can be enjoyed fresh, but are also great as juice, or in your salad, to kick it up a notch. They also make the most beautiful blood orange margaritas!
At the start of the season, we pick the smaller, riper fruit first. It has a bit more raspberry tartness early on in the season.
