10/30/09 Mushroom Update: We hope to begin harvesting Pacific Golden Chanterelles early next week. If you'd like to know as soon as we have product ready to ship, please request an email via our Local Harvest storefront.
Chanterelles are among the top three wild mushrooms, along with Morels and Boletes (Porcini). Their mild apricot flavor and full meaty texture make them a favorite among gourmet chefs. Savor them simply sauteed in a little butter with onion or garlic, or add them to a cream sauce for a taste unlike any other!
Pacific Golden Chanterelles grow wild along the coast of Oregon in the fall and early winter. These mushrooms are so prolific in our area, the state legislature designates it the official "state mushroom".
Oregon Wild Mushrooms (now known as OtterBee's Farm & Fungi) practices sustainable harvesting of wild mushrooms from our forests, and naturally grown produce from our market garden.
You can purchase fresh wild mushrooms, vegies and fruit in season, and dried varieties in stock year round.
We welcome email messages and phone calls from our customers! If you have a question or a comment, please let us know...and thanks for your patronage!
