Penrith Farms

Penrith Farms is a therapeutic community for young adults, transitioning into responsible adults. I am the farmer here at Penrith. I don't come from a farming family so I have looked for opportunities to actually be a farmer, most often working someone else's land. It is my dream job, and in this case, in a beautiful location. I also don't have a family and farming 2+ acres as a single person would be a daunting task. So I am very pleased that part of my responsibilities here are to get the clients interested in helping me grow food. I educate the clients about local foods and growing under challenging conditions (ie. the inland Northwest). We talk about organics, intergrated pest management, livestock amendments (manure), composting, and life. (more...)
