Extra-early. [Pre-1900 heirloom from the Doe Hill area in Highland County of Western Virginia.] Ripens from green to gold. This should be a garden mainstay: it is dependable, early, and productive. 'Doe Hill Golden Bell' produces 4- to 6-lobed bright orange, pumpkin-shaped bells, 2-¼" wide x 1" high. The 24" tall plants bear very early in the season, well ahead of the larger bells. The plants are widely adapted and disease-resistant. The flavor is sweet, with a fruity, multi-dimensional quality. A nice salad pepper for adding color, zip, and extra vitamin C to early summer salads.

Garden Medicinals offers over 220 varieties of medicinal and culinary herb seeds, roots, potato onions, specialty garlic varieties, and select heirloom vegetable and ethnic flower seed. All seeds are non-gmo, open-pollinated and untreated. Most seeds are naturally grown and a few are certified organic. Our vegetable seeds do especially well in hot, humid climates where vegetable production can be difficult. Our herb selection also includes dormant root stock of ginger, ginseng, goldenseal, black cohosh, false unicorn, and wild yam.
