Peruvian Zinnia (Zinnia peruviana) adds a sparkle of color to your garden - a mixture of bright red, yellow, and orange small flowers cover plants which will grow 2-3 feet in height and branches to 1-2 feet in width.
These are continuous blooming plants for a sparkle of color all summer long. Keep the plants dead headed for the best results.
I was first introduced to Peruvian Zinnia during a visit to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, where I purchased my first seed for this plant. Apparently Mr. Jefferson included these in his gardens. I immediately fell in love with them!
These are open-pollinated plants, meaning you can save the seed to plant the next year and have plants that are true to the parent.
Peruvian Zinnias are annuals. Direct sow seed in your garden or flower bed after all danger of frost have past. You should start getting blooms in June, which will continue throughout the summer.
To save seed for next year - allow the nicest flowers with the best color to remain on the plant and set seed. Remove the flower head from the plant after it has completely dried. Save the seed in a cool dry place until next year.
One packet = minimum of 100 organically produced seed.
