Matricaria matricarioides
Known as wild chamomile, it is not a true chamomile, but it does have similar properties.
The flowering plant is antispasmodic, carminative, galactogogue, sedative, skin and vermifuge. Pineapple weed is sometimes employed as a domestic remedy in the treatment of intestinal worms and also as a sedative.
The plant is harvested when in flower in the summer and is dried for later use. Some caution is advised since some individuals are allergic to this plant.
Use the dried flower heads as you would other dried teas, adding a teaspoonful to a cup of boiling water and allowing to seep for 10 minutes. Sweeten to taste.
