Porter Community Farm

Thanks for your interest in the farm and thanks to all the people who have supported it. The farm has been in the family for three generations and in almost continuous cotton production since the late 1920's. Having a very strong desire to implement a more sustainable farm practice and to provide a true, on farm market for the community, 2007 was the first full year of fruit and vegetable production here on the farm. All produce here on the farm is grown using the least outside input, most sustainable method utilizing many organic practices such as large scale composting, rotations and cover crops. The farm started its CSA program in '09 and it continues to expand giving more families in the community a chance to participate in this wonderful way to not only eat but build and strengthen their relationships with the land, their famer and their fellow shareholders.

Stephen puts a lot of time and hard work into his market and consistently provides high quality produce for the area. What's also nice is that he works with other people in the area to provide farm fresh eggs, bread, and other items that are ordinarily hard to find.... [more]
