Providence Creek Ranch is a small, family owned ranch on the Southern Oregon Coast close to the Lower Umpqua River. Our family raises hormone free, grass fed Angus and Simmental beef cattle on grass and clover pastures. The cattle are also supplemented with locally grown grass hay during the winter months from the Smith River and Elkton areas. We sell beef by the whole, half, or quarter. Our herd is small and well managed.
We also sell brown eggs which are laid by our heritage chickens. The chickens are free to roam the ranch during the daytime, but are put in the hen house at night to keep them safe from predators. Our chickens eat grass and insects during the day which helps the hens to produce healthy, delicious eggs with dark yellow to orange yolks. Some eggs have double yolks.
At the ranch we keep and manage honey bee hives as well. The honey bees pollinate fruit trees, berries and a wide variety of wildflowers, native plants and clover. Keep us in mind as a source for local honey.
We also have a horse stable and indoor arena at the ranch for equestrian enthusiasts who need a safe place to stable and exercise their horses. In the future we plan to create riding trails at the ranch.
With help from the local Soil and Water Conservation District and Natural Resources Conservation Service we have developed a farm plan for the ranch which will be implemented over several years to help the ranch become more productive for agriculture with the added benefit of increased wildlife habitat.
