Icelandic sheep are one of the worlds oldest and purest breeds of sheep. Throughout their 1100 years of history, the Icelandic breed have truly been triple-purpose, treasured for the meat, milk & fiber.
We started raising these beautiful, vital, and healthy sheep Naturally 8 years ago, mainly because our Certified Organic Vegetable, Herb and Flower gardens needed lots of organic matter. As our vegetable gardens have flourished, our flock is regularly fed huge "salads" from the trimmings of the gardens plus red raspberry leaf tea collected from our large berry patch, plus other holistic treats.
Our 2 ply Sport Weight yarn is processed at a wonderful "green" Colorado Mill, Mt. High Fiber Ladies, Pagosa Springs, where extra steps are employed to make a superior product--a spinner or knitter or weavers' dream--free of vegetative matter. Each skein averages 3.75 ounces and 210 yards. We offer all natural colors, which dye wonderfully, if this is your pleasure.
