Radix Farm uses sustainable farming practices to grow a wide variety of vegetables and herbs for our CSA, local restaurants, and Farmers Markets in the Washington, DC area. Our Certified Naturally Grown farm follows organic practices and concentrates on building a healthy ecosystem.
At Radix Farm, sustainability means treating the entire farm environment with care and respect. We grow three acres of diversified produce without the use of synthetic chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Our natural growing methods and small-scale enables us to provide individual attention to the plants and nurture the soil. In addition, we strive to increase local food security and make nutritious food accessible to all members of the community.
Radix Farm is located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland just outside the capital beltway in Prince Georges County, less than 10 miles from Washington, DC.
Radix Farm has approximately 100 CSA shares available for the 2015 season. Members choose from two types of pick-up options: Regular CSA Pick-Up or Market CSA Pick-Up. Our Regular CSA pick-up is a traditional-type CSA wherein the Farm determines what members receive each week and distributes the share at a designated pick-up site. For the Market CSA, members join and pay upfront into a debit account, then shop at the the Radix Farm stand at one of our farmers markets, choosing what they want each week from what is available and their account is debited.
REGULAR CSA: Each share member receives a weekly bag of fresh produce for 22 weeks, June to November. Regular CSA pick-up is on Tuesdays in Mt.Pleasant/Columbia Heights or Thursdays on 1st St. NW (outside of Big Bear Cafe). Shares cost $675 for the 2015 season.
MARKET CSA: Establish your debit account by paying $425 or $600 upfront. You'll receive a 6% or 10% discount credited into your account. Then shop on Saturdays at Petworth Farmers Market using your Farm debit account.
