We keep bees and pastured poultry, practice vermicomposting, and have mixed vegetable production and small fruit orchards. We use some alternative energy (wind power for irrigation at present). We are compost tea brewers, hedgerow builders, purple martin hosts, and pollinator conservationists! Our apiary is Certified Naturally Grown, and we use natural, sustainable methods all across the farm. We are becoming students of the philosophy and holistic methods utilized by biodynamic farms. In addition, Raft Swamp Farms is a farm incubator. We lease tracts of land to people who aspire to be small-scale, sustainable farmers. We use and teach sustainable methods, and are active members of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association.
