We invite you to step into our world, either virtually on our web site, by visiting the farm, or by staying a while in the guest cabins. As lovers of both the land and animal husbandry, we have enjoyed a life of farming and working in the rich beauty of Virginias Blue Ridge Mountains for nearly twenty years. The rabbit herd dates back to 1985, although it was discontinued for a time. With the addition of vacation cabins, we can share the experience of this wonderful lifestyle with you.
The PHOENIX Name: A New Beginning... Selection of the ranch name came at a time of new beginnings. Following the passing of our mother, we made the decision to find ways of making the land work more for us, while maintaining careful watch over the land. It has been a joy to add the guest cabins to the rabbit herd.
The legend of the Phoenix is present in the history of every civilization. Egyptians, Greeks, Hebrews, Romans, Chinese, Africans, Asians, Europeans, and Native Americans each have similar legends of this bird, which rises from ashes, renewed in its beauty. Its meaning across the ages and cultures is of rebirth and triumph over adversity. The Phoenix represents hope and purity, faith, constancy, eternity, light, and immortality. We chose the Phoenix for its symbolism of new beginnings.
