(Phaseolus vulgaris)
70 days. Open Polinated. Also called Preacher Bean in parts of the south. Our favorite pole bean for production, beauty, and crisp tenderness. Beans are 6 to 7" long, green with purple streaks. Holds well on the vine and does not get stringy. The flavor is excellent - juicy and crisp with full, beany flavor. The beans grow long and slender and abundant. Beans are easy to see and pick among the vines due to the purple mottling. Excellent for fresh eating and freezing, we also like to eat the young ones raw as they are so tender-crisp and juicy. The dried beans are good in soup.
Produces well for us from June through October here in the Ozarks. Vines grow tall, so provide support. Widely adapted. Does well in sandy and clay soils. Germinated at 97% on 12/3/12.
