Red Barn Lavender

Red Barn Lavender, owned by Marvin and Lynn Fast, is situated two miles west of Ferndale, Washington, at 3106 Thornton Road. The farm, located in a neighborhood settled around the turn of the century by Swedish immigrants, is nestled in rolling hills, encircled by the beautiful countryside, and framed to the east by a wonderful view of Mt. Baker and surrounding foothills. Red Barn Lavender has over 3,300 plants under cultivation, including Buena Vista, Grosso, Maillette, Fred Boutin, Hidcote Giant, English Lavender, Twickle Purple, Royal Velvet, Blue Hidcote and Pink Hidcote. We have many specimen plants including Sawyers, Dilly Dilly, Sarah, Sachet, Munstead, Jean Davis, Cascade Velvet, White Spike, Folgate, Seal, Silver Frost, Dutch Mill and Lodden Blue. When we planted the lavender in 2005, the fields had been passively managed pasture for over 50 years, with no use of sprays, pesticides or other inorganic treatments. Our farm is open to the public between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, from March 15th through the end of August. From September 1st through March 15th, we are open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday only or by appointment.
