Best little secret in the Finger Lakes
By: Maureen Greenwood    (Jul 9, 2008)

This is not your typical farm stand with tomatoes, zucchini and peppers. Sure, they have all that, but so much more! As previously noted, the dragon tongue beans are amazing and can be prepared in so many ways. A Syracuse restaurant often buys them up, so go early to beat him! You haven't tasted a tomato until you've had a Schoolhouse Farms heirloom tomato. And the sunflowers? What a variety...rusts, oranges, browns, in addition to the yellows. The couple and their children offer something you only read about in magazines, and we're lucky enough to have it within a short drive. Oh, and do stop into their Borodino Market up the hill from the farm stand. Go elsewhere for your cigarettes, lottery tickets and milk. Here you'll find olive oils and pastas from tuscany, private label loose teas, unusual and to-die-for jams and preserves, and one of a kind items for your family and guests. Thank you Schoolhouse Farms! Let's hope you don't get too popular. I count on your stuff each year.
