Transfiguration's Second Year By: Jeanette Z (Mar 5, 2009)
I helped coordinate the CSA at Transfiguration last year. I will be returning this year as I had a very positive experience working with Andy Fellenz, eating fresh produce (some of which I would never have tried if it had not been part of the share), and knowing that I did my part to eat local which reduced my family's impact on the environment and to eat organic for our health and its environmental benefits. I feel that the amount of produce I received in the small share was adequate for my family of five (three teens and two adults) when supplemented with my own backyard garden. I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen and so I always used all the produce, whether the varied greens in the early weeks or the bounty of summer and roots in the late fall. I felt the first year's experience was more than just getting vegetables; it was truly an opportunity to think about what we eat, where our food comes from, how we eat and the effort to obtain the food. I would highly encourage others to participate in a Fellenz CSA as an opportunity to learn, eat and appreciate food.
