We're looking forward to beginning our third season with this CSA. It's a great group of people, very well run. It's been fun learning creative ways to cook new vegetables (kohlrabi slaw? turnip-greens curry?) that we probably wouldn't otherwise have tasted. We found out we liked beets. We mashed purple potatoes and sauteed rainbow chard.
The only drawback is as a working family of two, we felt guilty wasting the overabundance of produce we received. (It wouldn't have been bad if we were better about storing things properly - we'll do better this year, promise).
Every time I see a sad, pink wedge of winter tomato in my salad, I find myself dreaming of those heirloom beauties we'll be enjoying come summertime - and supporting a local, sustainable farm with every tasty bite.
