VERY Happy Customer!

I have been getting produce, eggs, and meat (chickens) from Dawson Farms for the last 5 years.
The chicken eggs are always of the finest quality, as are the duck eggs. I really like knowing that these laying birds are allowed to live as close to their species "normal" as possible. I have toured the entire operation at Dawson Farms, and I can tell you the ONLY time birds are placed in a cage is if they are injured and need to be separated from the flock for their own safety.
The flock of laying hens live in a large wooden coop, with handmade perches and laying/nesting boxes available to them. They also have direct access to the outdoors via a pen that is at least 500 square feet. Weather permitting, they are given the opportunity to roam the entire property to feed on grass and bugs on a daily basis.
The ducks and geese are kept in similar buildings, while being allowed free-range throughout the property every day (weather permitting).
Tom and Laura are continually looking for ways to expand their offerings at Dawson Farms. Last year they began a produce CSA program. Due to the distance I live from their farm, I am not able to participate in the CSA, but I have eaten fresh produce from their garden many times, and I'm always impressed.
The heirloom tomatoes are GORGEOUS; the hot peppers (although not my favorite) have gotten rave reviews from my husband and friends; bell peppers, herbs, celery and carrots are always tasty to use in soups; the variety of greens can be used in salads, soups, or sauteed with olive oil and garlic for a tasty and healthy side to any dinner; and just recently I had the opportunity to taste Laura's homemade grape jam made with grapes that she grew.
I wish that we lived closer, so that my family could participate in the CSA. Based on grocery store - and even farmers market - prices for organic produce and free-range organic eggs, I think Dawson Farms is not only fairly priced, but a true bargain.
