My Favorite Locavore hotspot

Farmers Gastropub is one of my favorite places to go for snacks, drinks or dinner. I've recommended it and introduced several friends to it; all of them have also become regulars. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed. The food is local and delicious. There are rotating daily specials such as catfish, curries or bison fillets. They also offer up several traditional English pub dishes- bangers and mash or fish and chips, for example. Some of my favorites- local grass fed braised beef sliders, the sausage rolls from local pastured pork, and seasonal local veggies in sides and salads and quiches- you get the idea.
Farmers is even offering customers an opportunity to purchase some local meats- providing just one more way for consumers to get their hands on local pastured meats in addition to the farmers markets and local food markets.
In addition to the food, there is also an extensive beer and wine list. In to micro-brews? They've got a great selection.
The owner, chef, head bartender and wait staff are friendly and helpful. The menu is informative and you can see that the chicken, pork, beef, duck or veggies you are eating came from many local farms in the surrounding area.
If you live in or will be visiting Springfield, I recommend Farmers for lunch, dinner, drinks or just a snack- hit up the local independent movie theater next door or catch a live performance at the many nearby theaters and you've got a fantastic night out in Springfield supporting local foods and performers all the way. Cheers!
