McIntosh's farmstand - a growing sense of place!
By: Bill Elliott (Feb 27, 2011)
We are going on our third year of CSA with Lisa MacIntosh. She is raising great crops, healthy animals, and a growing family. When she is not too busy with the farm and her family, we get a chance to tell her what is going on with our lives and suggest what we want to get grown for next year. Lisa tells us all about growing stuff. She is flexible and will substitute the veggies we like for tthe ones we don't like as much as long as it doesn"t impact somebody else's share. We get some great off season stuff like fall harvest decorations or soap. She sells us Amish specialty items with very low markup. We get to watch how her crops and animals grow. We see how the weather affects our share - for the good or bad. We watch how her family grows.
The MacIntosh farmstand has grown on us and given us a sense of place. This is our most favorite CSA.
( With our prior CSA, the drop off was at the honest weight food coop and we never got to know our farmers because we didn't go to the farm. )
