Wonderful Organic Farm; Delightful Farmers

By: Jim Blanton    (Jun 28, 2011)

Just got back from our first visit to Crooked Cedar Farm. Edwina and Selvin Harrell sell their veggies out of their kitchen, which means it's cool inside!

Many of the veggies are a flat rate of $3/lb, which makes it fun to mix and match. We bought tomatoes, Royal Burgundy Purple Snap Beans (which Edwina told us cook up green like regular green beans), and different varieties of patty pan squash.

The Harrells took us on a tour of the farm and introduced us to the beautiful chickens--they harvested their very first egg just this morning! Can't wait for our 3-1/2 year-old granddaughter to visit this summer. She will love the chickens!

Highly recommend that you visit the Harrells, too.

They also sell their produce at the All Local Farmers Market at 701 Whaley St. in Columbia, and a couple of other local markets on different days.
