Receiving the gift of our farm share

We are beginning our 4th season with Webster Farm Organic's Salad Days? Things we love? We love the farmers, Net and Tam. We love their newsletter, carefully and thoughtfully created each week. Their weekly missive shares their relationship with their land and crops and how to identify what's in our bag:) We love the size of our farmshare, knowing many people who quit their farmshares when the huge quantities overwhelmed them. We love how it has changed the way we think about our own city land and what we put into it. We have turned a big (10 year in the making) compost pile the past three years and returned our own created soil to our garden. We have switched to organic fertilizers and weed control. We believe in local farmers and in safe food. Net and Tam's farm is a reflection of the relationship my father had with his land in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and what he taught us about stewardship.

We are excited that our eleventh season of Salad Days is about to begin. Being members with this CSA has deepened our relationship with food, the land, and the growers. Nett and Tam are fantastic farmers, but they also are wonderful teachers and community builders. The entire experience has been transformative for us. And the food is great, too!
A Tasty Learning Experience

We have been members of Salad Days for about 7 years. It has been a wonderful experience. Each week during the season brings tasty organically grown delicacies. We have learned so much about organic vegetables and have been able to try some that we had never heard of before (purslane, for instance) and have learned so much about our all time favorites (who knew there were so many varieties of heirloom tomatoes?). The weekly newsletter not only lists what's in the bag for the week but also gives us a glimpse of what is happening on the farm at that particular point in time as well as tips on creative ways to prepare the vegetables. My mouth waters as it anticipates the first asparagus of the season in May, or the wonderful varieties of summer squash in July. We highly recommend Webster Farm Organics - Salad Days!
Quality and variety!

I have been a member since 2001 and continue to be amazed by the commitment these farmers demonstrate to produce the highest quality and largest variety of foods for their members. I had never heard of many of the amazing heirloom and unique varieties they grow. Not to mention delicious! Ground cherries, purple carrots, 60 varieties of tomatoes? The list is too long for this space. Your membership is well worth the commitment and cost.
Excellent Unique Local Food!

We have been a member of this CSA for 3 or 4 years now. We have really enjoyed getting local produce every week. The unique foods we receive (along with the ones we know and love) really helps us get out of our vegetable rut (we always seem to buy the same veggies at the store). Nett and Tam are wonderful people and it is great to have a relationship with where your food is coming from. Sign up for their program. You won't be disappointed!
