Reviews for: Gum Creek Farms
By: Mark Maisel (Jun 11, 2009)
I met Tommy at the old Spruill Farmers Market in Dunwoody. I purchased samples of pork, lamb, and chicken. All were fantastic. The pork is the best I've ever eaten. Since then, I've purchased whenever need arises of all of these items. The only problem I've got is that I'm competing with Atlanta's top restaurants. That being said, it further speaks to the quality of product Tommy & Alecia produce on their farm. They are also terrific folks and I wish them continued success & happiness in their farming venture.
The Spruill Market is now in Dunwoody Village by the Post Office, for those of you wondering where it went.
Truly Inspired Pork

As a professional chef, I am constantly seeking to find the best products that I can serve to my guests. Being a long time customer of gum creek farms I can confidently say that they truly represent some of the best berkshire pork available in the area, and at a very reasonable price. The animals are humanely raised and processed and it is truly a breath of fresh air to find two people as dedicated to their farm as we are of our restaurant. I encourage anyone who is seeking a premium quality pork product to introduce yourself to Tommy and Alecia Searcy.

I have not been out to the farm itself, but I have visited with the folks who run it on several occasions and have been fortunate enough to partake of their sausage and eggs. These folks are kind, interesting, willing to share their stories, and they produce very high quality products. I highly recommend them- they are a treasure to the Carrollton area.
Very good product

I have purchased their pork and chicken once when they were in Dunwoody. The meat was just wonderful. It was very obvious that they really take care of their animals at home. The price was very expensive though. I know it is not cheap to raise animals in a healthy enviorment, but their price per pound were almost double of what I have paid at other farms. Quality meats though.

This review may backfire on me. I feel like I'm giving away a precious secret, but these folks deserve some kudos. They are very nice people and highly accommodating. I eat their meats with the confident knowledge that all of the animals were raised in the open air on grassy pastures and were shipped and slaughtered humanely. The flavour is excellent, especially the lamb. I'm sad that they've paused in their chicken and egg production, these were my favourites. Nevertheless, I'm eager to order their pork and lamb every time it becomes available!
