Become a Locavore!
By: Tim Wheeler    (Oct 2, 2010)

I have been a member for a year now and have to say I am so happy with my membership. It is one of the best investments I have made, supporting small local farms and getting a healthful product in return. I recently visited the farm for the first time and could see for myself that the animals there were living in a low stress, caring environment where they were free to roam. Just knowing that these animals are not receiving all the harmful additives, hormones, and antibiotics has given me peace of mind. And knowing that these animals are grown and harvested locally means they are not shipped from far away, wasting resources to end up at my home.

You have the power to make a difference too! Do yourself and your family a huge favor and make a commitment to become a locavore! Membership is your opportunity to keep your money local and support our economy. You too can change things for the better for all of us!

We Love Old Pine Farm
By:    (Oct 1, 2009)

We joined their CSA last year and have absolutely loved everything we've had. Once you've tried their pork, you will never be able to go back to the old grocery store stuff again. It's the best. Same with the chickens. Kris is a great person and I'm so happy that she raises the meat that my family eats.

WONDERFUL farm, GREAT people, delicious meat and eggs
By:    (May 6, 2008)

I visited Old Pine Farm before joining their CSA so that I could see for myself whether the animals were happy and well looked after, and I was thrilled by what I saw. Kris Hirth and her son Casey love and respect their animals, and take great care to ensure that they lead happy, healthy, comfortable lives, and are slaughtered humanely. The meat and eggs are delicious (the eggs are all different colors - a true sign that they come from happy, diverse hens!) and extremely cheap given the time, energy, effort and love that went into producing them. It has been such a pleasure getting to know Kris and Casey. They are fantastic people. I feel so lucky to live near Old Pine Farm - it makes my life immeasurably better.

Great Meat and Eggs, Great People, Great Farm!
By: Caroline Garrett    (May 6, 2008)

For the past year or so, my family has gotten ALL the meat we eat from Old Pine Farm - beef, pork, chicken, and a little emu. We started doing this because eating the "factory farmed" meat one gets in grocery stores is absolutely untenable - for the earth, for your health, and for your soul. Old Pine Farms treats their animals with love and respect, pastures them, and lets them live a good life until they are put down with the same love and respect with which they were raised. The meat tastes great, it comes from a lovely farm 30 miles from my house instead of some horrible feedlot hundreds or thousands of miles away. They have a meat CSA which lets you purchase a large quantity of meat and pick it up in smaller quantities throughout the year; this is both convenient and cost effective. Plus, the people who own the farm are really wonderful and getting to know them a little bit has been really good.
