Disappointed in 2012
By: Dolores Ninerell (Mar 14, 2013)
Not sure what happened in 2012 but my experience was nothing like what the others described in 2010. I never saw a tomato. I received so many potatoes that I couldn't stand the sight of them and gave them away. I got 3-5lbs of potatoes each week. Some of the produce was not fresh. The carrots were awful, the corn was rotten, the string beans were not edible. Had I not belonged to a farm coop before I would have been turned off completely. It seems we were getting old farm cast-offs. Looking for something else in 2013. Hope this one gets better but I will never find out.
We enjoy our CSA membership

We have a small family of 3 and it was great to find a local CSA that sold small shares of organic produce. We love the pick your own green beans, and the Russian Kale was delicious, the heirloom tomatoes wonderful. I had a lot of fun coming up with a recipe for whatever was in my bag each week. Knowing where your food comes from is more important than ever these days and we enjoyed talking to 'our' farmer every week at pickup. Another small family signed up as well and it was great that we could pick up each other's produce if we couldn't make it. Would like to see more fresh herbs like dill, cilantro, oregano. Keep up the good work!
A Great Summer!

Our first introduction to belonging to a CSA was summer 2009 with the Growing Home Co-op. We loved all of the produce and found some new vegetables to love including mustard greens and kale. We have 3 young children and so were looking for a smaller portion and found our allotments to be perfect for our family. The kids loved picking string beans--they begged to go each week to pick up the vegetables.
