Reviews for: Urban Oasis Hydroponic Farm
By: Christine Milton (Feb 28, 2010)
This farm in the middle of Tampa is wonderful. A true Oasis. The veggies are fresh and beautiful and the truly humane free-range eggs alone are worth the trip. They sell their hydroponic systems and I was so enthused that my daughter and I bought one. Cathy has been very helpful and patient in her instructions of how to get started in this form of gardening. I am growing the basic veggies but will still go to Urban Oasis for their wonderful selection of unusual veggies that I do not grow like tatsoi and of course the eggs and honey. Give them a try and you will experience the wonderful taste difference in their fresh clean hydroponic produce.

This farm truly is an urban oasis! Over an acre of lush organic veggies in the middle of Tampa! They offer CSA memberships, home growing systems and supplies for the home gardener, loads of fresh veggies, and more! They also operate Urban Lawns, an organic lawn spraying service - better for your yard, family, and environment. They are beginning to work with worm castings, worm tea, and compost in addition to their organic fertilizers. I have eaten their produce almost weekly for the past several months. I have been exposed to veggies the I had not ever tried, or even heard of! My family has enjoyed much more fresh produce in our meals than ever before. And the key word is fresh! While I support organic and cringe at the thought of GMO's, I am most impressed with the freshness of the crops. I swear that I have never tasted a cucumber so crisp and flavorful before. The eggplant, regular and Antigua, are so firm yet tender, and have an amazing taste - clean and bright, not bitter ever. Turnips, kohlrabi, swiss chard, kale, cucumbers, several types of zucchini and summer squash, green beans, tomatoes, okra, watermelon and cantaloupe, scallions, fragrant herbs, spinach, and glorious lettuce including a vibrant red leaf and delicate butterhead! I am a true fan of this gem right in my neighborhood!
