Great CSA, promoting great community
By: Erin R Brandy    (Nov 6, 2010)

The Shire CSA was a great experience for us for our first year living in a new town. It is just a short bike ride from our house, and located in a lovely spot along the Spring Creek Trail. After a little bit of a slow start, the produce started rolling in and we enjoyed every bit of greens, tomatoes, peppers, melons, corn, and zucchini. The pickup days often turned into impromptu neighborhood get-togethers, with members bringing delicious food made from the week's share of produce. I appreciated the flexibility of Luke, the owner, in allowing some choice in the veggies we picked for our share, and sometimes even the days we picked up our share. We were able to purchase a working share for less money, in exchange for some hours of work on the farm--which we thoroughly enjoyed. I'm definitely looking forward to next year's surprises from the Shire.

Inspiring CSA in Fort Collins

My experience with Shire CSA has been wonderful - not to mention easy. I am able to ride my bike along the Spring Creek Bike Trail which is very enjoyable, and end up at Shire CSA. As a new-comer, i can only imagine how great it will be when the gardens are in full swing. The produce i have tasted so far has been absolutely delicious, and Luke the owner and gardener, was friendly and helped with all my questions. I'm happy to see the movement of locally grown food becoming even more local, practically in my hometown backyard. I am happy to be a part of Shire CSA's growing community.
