Really great veggies and a good
By: Suzanna Raker    (May 30, 2010)

Hello: I'm an organic farmer and beekeeper myself, and tend to be picky about plants, produce and the practices farms and market gardens use.

Rock River is a worthwhile drive for an afternoon of beauty and absolutely great vegetables. Their emphasis is on quality and they certainly seem to know their business, and enjoy customers.

This Spring, I purchased some of their early spinach at the Marquette Food Co-Op. Fantastic ! Darn near anybody can grow spinach, but theirs was exceptional, as well as very early. It kept well, and provided us with incredibly good salads, Greek pizza fixings and 'strata' baking.

I've found "RRP" to have consistently excellent veggies and thank them for their efforts --it's not easy to farm in the western U.P. -and can say from visiting their farm that they are a unique and welcome addition to agriculture in the "far north" of Michigan.

The autumn drive to the Rock area is very colorful, and a fine time to pick up some late season veggies.

I have only visited the greenhouse once, but the produce, particularly the tomatoes, were extremely tasty and fresh. Elise Bunce was tremendously helpful and knowledgeable about her plants. All in all, a great experience, and highly recommended!
