My family's been part of this CSA since it started about 5 years ago. It' provides much more than great local veggies/fruits/flowers/eggs. Eric and Rachel encourage members to come out to the farm numerous times during the growing season -- to help plant and weed and harvest; to enjoy seasonal celebrations, like a summer solstice camp-out; or just to enjoy the beauty of nature. They have three young kids, so children's needs and interests are always considered in planning events and in the content of the weekly Notes from the Pea Patch newsletter. For the grownups in the family, the newsletter also includes articles about the environmental and health reasons for eating fresh local veggies. Something for everybody!
This will be our third season enjoying the benefits of foxtail's harvest. We get an abundance of fresh vegetables each week and lots of ideas from the extremely helpful news letter as to how to store and use our produce. The family days on the farm are an added bonus, the kids have a great time and learn so much. I also appreciate that they ask the members for their input on new vegetables. The farm is beautiful and a true joy to visit.
