Bees at Conroe Market
By: fred flinshore    (Aug 2, 2011)

Pat and Elvis From Peas Farm brought it on again. For two weeks in a row they brought an Observation Bee Hive. I learned more than I can remember right now . Queen bee painted with a blue dot. The worker bees live 21 days and then leave the hive to die. Local honey fights allergies. Wheat honey Calzones taste great. And....and....so on. I also learned Pat and Elvis are planning to show us how to make pickles on August 13. {Something about putting them in a brine flipping them over and back over again for two days}, after Chef Michael and his parents return to the market from a trip to Univ. of Alabama for the son's graduation. And then in September we can all make Trail mix for a healthy back to school snack.

Making pickles in Mason jars was a great success. Forty visiting customers were thrilled to learn from Pat the technique of canning. Only customer Fred had a failure because he added salsa to his pickles when he arrived home, we heard. When he brought them back to market his experiment had turned to mush.Poor Fred. The visiting children to Market last week were excited about Trail Mix as long as Mom's approved the use of M&M's. Pat had samples of healthy Trail Mix for the more mature crowd. As always Pat and Elvis' demos are well received by all who participate.

By: fred flinshore    (Jun 24, 2011)

Pat / Elvis are very knowledgeable about how to use the products they sell and they offer recipes for their unusual items such as Kohrabi slaw. Or Egg Plant Parmesan. Every weekend they offer an exciting education of their passion 'Farm Fresh Produce' If you need wood furniture done old school speak with Jeff. His section is filled with exciting examples.I have enjoyed multiple visits to this downtown Conroe market
