If you want to learn what it takes to operate YOUR own organic garden, join us! We are an independent, volunteer board-managed 501(c)4 that wants your input!!! You can be as involved as you'd like. You can work side by side when you can with our paid farming staff or serving on the board or working in the barn when members come to pick up their food!!! The work that is "required" will be determined by YOU. Some help with newsletter development, web-site management, or whatever your talents lead you!!! It is fun and on the beautiful Mississippi River bluffs, quiet setting, one of the oldest estates in our region! Call Danette our current chair, or our current farmer and his family, Eric & Crystal Stevens to find out more about the 2012 season!!! See From a sharehold of the LaVist CSA, Cathy Dondanville

Great, Hands-on CSA
By: Meghan Haines    (Mar 25, 2010)

This will be my second year as a subscriber to the La Vista CSA. It's definitely a more hands-on CSA than others -- no home delivery and a lot of pick-your-own. But it's a really great value. Last year there were weeks when I took home 30 regular tomatoes, plus multiple quarts of cherry toms and plum toms! Needless to say, I had plenty to can to get me through the winter. And, as for all the pick your own, what better to way to make sure that you're getting the absolute freshest produce? Here's a sampling of what crops La Vista has to offer: tons of greens, strawberries, cabbages, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, broccoli, eggplant, beets, turnips, radishes, squash, cucumbers, green beans, a variety of herbs, and even flowers. This CSA does not include the extras, such as meat, milk, and grains, that some others do; however, it provides an abundance of great produce. You can also split a share with a friend. And the farm is beautiful!
