Take your business elsewhere.

Three of my friends attempted to work for Black's Heritage Farm on separate occasions, and all had very bad experiences. They all had to fight to get their paychecks. A little searching through Iowa court documents and you can verify that Norine Black repeatedly mistreats employees. I suspect that the one positive review on this site was written by this business' owners, because I have never met anyone with a positive employment experience at Black's Heritage Farm. These are not good people. Please take your business elsewhere, and support local farms who have better ethical standards.

I find this interesting in my theory if you treat them right they treat you right, I worked for her along time ago, and seen her the other day, and always gives me hugs, and thanks me for all the hard work I did for her, not the Norine I know.

I think Blacks are the greatest. I worked for them 5 years ago and loved it. I have graduated and left Ames. When ever I return I look them up at the Ames Farmers Market to say Hi. That job was an important part of my education at Iowa State.

exploits labor

Unacceptable treatment of employees. Does not pay their help. Search Iowa courts online for Norine Black and you will find dozens of cases where Black's Heritage Farm has been sued by both employees and creditors. Support local growers but not the ones who exploit labor.

Dale Walker was a disgruntle employee that quit. It is to bad he has to make comments like this. Black's has had many employees over the last 70 years that have gone on to be very successful in the field of Agriculture from the experience and education they learned working on our farm.
