Amazing People and Cider
By: The Carl    (Nov 3, 2012)

Very friendly and funny people. I called them asking for 10 gallons of cider and they were able to fill the request that day and for a better price than their competitors. The cider smells and tastes great and its all organic!

Thanks for your compliments on the cider! My husband, Brett Heiner, owns the press and ran it for Cabalos. Our family had a good time seeing what that old press could do with a steady supply of apples from the orchard. Given that the press was a rusty metal skeleton less than a year before, it was a pretty good season!

Cabalo's is great

2010 was the first year we attended Cabalo's farm for the pumpkin patch. Chan was very nice and helped us to decide what kind of pumpkins we should have for pie making. We then bought loads of apples for various uses. I can't say enough about how excellent the operation here is. I'm currently waiting for the apples to come on this year. Small, local, organic and very friendly.

pumpkin patch
By: Molly Jackson    (Oct 13, 2010)

2010 was my second year visiting Cabalo's for pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, and apples. We love it. Last year I took 3 friends along, and Chan gave us a ride to the pumpkin patch, showed us all the different types of pumpkins (he was truly patient with a bunch of 30 year old women with little farm experience), and helped us find good ears of corn. This year, I took my husband and 2-year old, and we loaded up on apples, gourds, and pumpkins, and I returned the following weekend with my girlfriends and had a great time. The place isn't fancy, but it is simple and non-commercial (unlike some of these other pumpkin joints), and the produce is great. And the prices are hard to beat--no "entrance fee" or anything. Additionally, it's organic, which is fantastic, especially for those with kids. This means you have to pick through some apples to find perfect ones, but those that you take home are wonderful and pesticide-free.

I have been buying their produce for several years now. The CSA program is wonderful and very convenient, and the produce tastes like what I remember as a kid, at least 50 years ago. They grow a lot of the delicious heirloom plants, and because they don't use chemicals and preservatives, I dont worry. They are a fantastic family that believes in what they are doing, and spoiling their customers. I love green tomatoes, (fried green tomatoes) and when I show up, if they are out, Chan runs over to the farm and picks them and brings them right about being spoiled!!! They know how to spoil their customers!! They also grow some fun and very different varieties of veggies, and Cathy loves explaing them and their history and provides receipes for something unusual she has discovered and likes to share!! Their farm booth is just fun. as well as delicious!!! For Happy, healthy eating, try them!! Thank You, DuVey
