This is a 106 year old farm. We have owned it since 1999. Our soil has not had any commercial pesticides or herbicides on it for at least 15 years. We currently raise black angus cattle and cross-bred hogs. Our cattle are pastured during the warmer months and fed alfalfa/grass hay in smaller paddocks during the winter months and during calving season.The pigs are able to root in the dirt as pigs do.
We are increasing the size of our vegetables plots and planting more fruit trees, blueberries and other berries that will grow in our climate zone (including STRAWBERRIES). Our plan is to add pasture raised chickens in spring 2010 for both egg production and chickens for fryers. Meat goats and lambs are in the future plans as demand dictates. We are in contact with the State of Colorado to become Certified Organic according to Colorado statute. Our current farming and grazing practices are in harmony with commonly accepted practices for organic or naturally grown foods.
