River Bend Alpacas is located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mts. in upstate New York. We sit along side the Beaver River and are about 1/2 mile back into the woods!
Raising huacaya alpacas has allowed me to both be with animals that I love, as well as it offers me the opportunity to run a business from my home environment. Currently there are 19 alpacas residing here and we expect another 8 cria to be born next summer / fall!
Shearing takes place in early spring and is done by myself. I prepare the fleeces here and then send most of them on to be processed at a mill into roving and yarn. Raw fleeces are also available for the fiber artists / hand spinners who are interested.
At my farm we have a small gift shop in which I sell products (mainly locally knit) made from the alpaca. There are a variety of yarns to buy...some commercially dyed / processed and some from my own alpacas. Additionally, special orders are accepted for knit articles...our specialty being beautiful sweaters, hats, scarves and mittens! Mail & phone orders are accepted! We accept VISA / Master Card for your convenience.
I welcome any questions and am always happy to have visitors! Please call ahead so we can set up a time for you to visit!
