Royal Alpacas (and Spin A Yarn)

On tranquil Whidbey Island, Washington, we raise our own alpacas, shear their fleeces, then gently transform the fiber into soft, luxurious handspun yarns. We also handknit beautiful scarves and needle felt gorgeous hats (childrens and adults) from alpaca, mohair and merino fibers. The children participate in 4-H with their alpacas, and have won top state honors for their animals and the fleeces.

We do not send out our alpaca fleeces to a mill! From drumcarding on Fricke Finest at home to gently washing the fiber with French olive oil soap or Brown's lamb gentle wash (no additives), to dying at home, to handspinning in our own studio, this is an environmentally friendly, totally homegrown fiber family business!

We teach free classes to YOUTH in the Whidbey area and teach classes (for a reasonable fee) at our home studio for adults in spinning, fiber dyes, and are really focusing on recycled fiber arts right now. See our blog at recycledfiberarts.blogspot.com.

We are also incorporating our handspun yarns, along with silk threads, into beautiful recycled fiber arts items, including button bags and more.
