Inspired by the tranquility of farm life, David and Laura took ownership of the RR bar in 2005. Having been neglected for nearly a decade, there was a lot of work to be done on this original homesteaded 40 acres. After many summers of tlc, the hay fields are starting to come back and the whole place is beginning to green up.
In the Spring of 2009, we added a 50 foot greenhouse to begin our next chapter on the farm, vegetable production. This year we will be adding more cold frames and hot houses to help exponentially grow our yield. Natural, organic style small scale farming needs to make a comeback in our community for the sake of our own health. The RR bar is proud to be a part of the farming community here and hope we can contribute to its future flourishment.
We offer CSA to a few families here in Central Oregon for the vegetable garden, from May/June - early Oct. In 2010 we are hoping to be able to accommodate even more. We will always be at the local farmers market with our bounty - so look for us. We also raise sows and hogs for butcher, so if natural hormone free delicious pork is what you are after, keep the RR bar in mind.
Two roads diverged in a wood and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.
