Byrd Farm Enterprises and USDA Certified Organic, founded Rural Virginia Market CSA in 2008, and is proud to announce the seventh CSA season. Rural Virginia Market is dedicated to bringing the best of locally owned, small family farms to the tables of our members in the greater Richmond, Virginia area.

Each farm excels in their own area of expertise which ensures a constant supply from reliable sources. We do not acquire produce from auction houses or outside wholesalers. Our animals are treated humanely and have daily access to fresh water and grazing land. We do not use growth hormones or routine antibiotics. Our vegetable crops are grown from certified organic seeds or untreated/non-gmo seeds. We do not use synthetic fertilizers or herbicides.

We feel it is vital to maintain the fragile link between our rural environment and the "carbon" footprint when bringing our farm products to market. Our core farm "neighbors" are located in the following counties:

Goochland County Byrd Farm - owned and operated by Philip and Debra Stoneman - specializing in USDA Certified Organic vegetables and strawberries, pasture-raised poultry and eggs, as well as made-on-the farm preserves.

Amelia County - Goats R Us - owned and operated by John & Robin Dodson - specializing in high quality, artisnal chevre cheese.

Fluvanna County Upper Yewers Farm - owned & operated by John and Laura Easter - specializing in grass fed, pasture raised beef.

Buckingham County Babes in the Wood - owned & operated by Bill Jones - specializing in forest raised pork.

Nelson County Saunders Brothers Orchards - owned & operated by the Saunders family - growers of multiple varieties of pears, peaches, apples, nectarines.

Drumheller Family Orchards - owned & operated by the Drumheller family - growers of almost 20 different varieties of apples

Albemarle County Henley Orchards - owned & operated by Tim Henley - grower of multiple varieties of peaches and apples.

Powhattan County Swift Creek Berry Farm - owned & operated by the Goode family - growers of blueberries

Other "non-farm" producers located in the Richmond area:

Henrico County Chocolate Cravings - owned and operated by our good friend and chocolateer Cathy Churcher - specializing in high quality, unique chocolates.

City of Richmond billy's Bread - owned and operated by Billy Fallen himself - producer of one the best breads around, a rustic sourdough.

I've had a great CSA experience with Rural Virginia Market and recommend it to people all the time. The produce is of extremely high quality. With other CSAs before I've received produce that's scrawny or with major insect damage, but that's not the case here.... [more]

This is a wonderful CSA to work with. The ease with which one can pre order on-line is very streamlined and easy to use. With time being a premium these days it is great to know that you can order fresh food from a wonderful provider and grower just a click away.... [more]

We became members last year and have enjoyed not only the wonderful food, but debs time to answer questions when we have them as well as offer recipes when trying something new.... [more]
