SalAmander Farms produces a wide variety of vegetables, seeds and transplants. We also raise lamb for direct sale. My goal is to run a sustainable farm. With that in mind, my farming practices take into account the interrelated needs of yield; nutritional quality; soil health; insect & bird populations; water, soil and air pollution; and profitability. Pest & disease control are guided by a least-toxic effective approach. The garden is minimum tillage with lots of mulch from animal manure and straw.
I produce a lot of heirloom vegetable transplants for local markets. This year I have over 70 varieties listed in the Seed Savers Exchange yearbook. I save seeds from over 50 heirloom tomatoes, over 30 heirloom beans, at least 15 peppers, and an ever-growing inventory of other vegetables. I start everything from seed, and can do custom-starting for people who want a particular variety of vegetable for their own garden. Fresh herbs also available throughout the season.
On farm, seasonal. Call ahead. Lamb available year-round. I also have heirloom seeds available, and can start transplants for individual orders.
