Chilaca chiles also known as Pasilla or Mexican Negro have long and thin pods measuring between 5 and 6 inches long by 1 inch wide at the shoulder. The dark green pods are mild with a similar heat to a poblano.
When dried, chilaca chiles are called pasilla or chile negro and are most often used in mole sauce.
